Whatever type happens!  It's nice to think that whatever kind of weather any one of us is wishing for is happening somewhere on this globe!  :-)

Lost Generation

I heard this video placed second at the AARP U@50 contest, though I don't know what year; fairly recently.  It's really cool the way they illustrate how we can reverse what's happening...  Enjoy!

The DREAM Act

Posted on Feb 5th, 2009 by Kerrylee : Quantum Dancer Kerrylee
Fanny, a friend I met here at Gaia.com, is a supporter of the DREAM ACT, which asks for legal status for kids who immigrated to this country and, having lived here for years, deserve a legal place in schools and jobs in the U.S.  Read on for more information (the text below is from Fanny's page), or visit Fanny at http://fannym.gaia.com/.  You can also read more about the DREAM Act at http://dreamactivist.org/.

Pass the DREAM Act - Support Higher Education for All Students

The problem: Many American students graduate from college and high school each year, and face a roadblock to their dreams: they can't drive, can't work legally, can't further their education, and can't pay taxes to contribute to the economy just because they were brought to this country illegally by their parents or lost legal status along the way. It is a classic case of lost potential and broken dreams, and the permanent underclass of youth it creates is detrimental to our economy. Former Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch has said: “In short, although these children have built their lives here, they have no possibility of achieving and living the American dream. What a tremendous loss for them, and what a tremendous loss to our society.”

The solution: The federal DREAM Act (Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act), is a bipartisan legislation that would permit these students conditional legal status and eventual citizenship granted that they meet ALL the following requirements:

–if they were brought to the United States before they turned 16, are below the age of 30,
–have lived here continuously for five years,
–graduated from a U.S.
high school or obtained a GED
–have good moral character with no criminal record and
–attend college or enlist in the military.

Why should you care? There is no other pathway to citizenship for these students. Besides the injustice of punishing children for the alleged transgressions of their parents, throwing away the talent we have invested in from K-12 and accruing losses in human and financial capital by deporting talented students is bad public policy. The Social Security Administration has recently stated that we need a net increase of 100,000 immigrants each year to ensure Social Security solvency.

Passing the DREAM Act would actually help solve the Social Security crisis by creating a larger taxable base of educated Americans that are already in the United States. It would also free some of the backlog that currently plagues the legal immigration system. Also, the DREAM Act in its latest form, does not grant in-state tuition to any student.

Endorsements: Since 2001, almost a 1000 organizations have officially endorsed the bill. Barack Obama has stated that DREAM Act beneficiaries are “American children for all intents and purposes” and has called this a top priority.

Tell President-Elect Obama to pass the DREAM Act in 2009.

The Crucial Aspect

Posted on Feb 1st, 2009 by Kerrylee : Quantum Dancer Kerrylee

The crucial aspect
is just listening
to admonitions.  Suspicions:
my, I have those; they
counsel me.  I have
an angel in cahoots
named Mathiel, and talk
with him, asking him
that action of my own will, action
as his divinity;
How should my intention prove
for only one love?  Ah, my intentions and actions,
would they coincide; my one present moment,
here.  He is angel.  Will I
allow myself
to release now?  I can always
see freely.  For, it's presently
I am seeing.  Now,
the way he does.  I move
because I am propelled.

I drop portobellos on the kitchen floor after cooking

Posted on Feb 1st, 2009 by Kerrylee : Quantum Dancer Kerrylee

The loose pan handle -- wobbly pan.  Fire out, spices back on the rack, soy sauce
on my fingertips.  I pick up the pan thinking perfect mushrooms on my plate.
The pan tips, the ports  splat  on the floor, dusty.
And then the insistent burning in my diaphragm.  I stare at the stove,
the spattered sauce, recall the feelings of a dream --
anger like a monster
ripping me from sleep with a mad power.
(I had felt my cells change that night.  When I woke, my skin was scaly, my eyes red,
my soul shrunk tiny as a particle.)

moonpoem #1

Posted on Feb 1st, 2009 by Kerrylee : Quantum Dancer Kerrylee

beneath the fiddling  moon
a thousand fall shadows
sing to a shaking in the wind.
the moon orange, a gritty womb --
seeds and fleshy tendrils,
the scent of squash --
and silence reverberating
the way the moon
echoes soft over
and over.

Family Tragedy

Posted on Feb 1st, 2009 by Kerrylee : Quantum Dancer Kerrylee

Bickering vegetables:
tomatoes don't like onions
because they're too bold and outspoken,
onions are afraid of beans
because they come in large bushy numbers.
So, I planted them where they wouldn't fight so much,
prepared the soil,
laid down the rows,
banished all the weeds,
made sure my own house and yard were sweet enough for their characters,
nurtured them well.
Everyone was happy
until the day half the carrots disappeared.
The vegtables were in a panic, ranting about furry monsters.
So, I bought 150 feet of chicken wire,
put it around the garden,
fenced them in.  They were still attacked:
days later the rabbits and groundhog ate
just about all of the beans,
quite a few kohlrabies,
and this morning I found one of the broccoli plants gone.

What has your recent relationship to money been like?

Posted on Jan 13th, 2009 by Kerrylee : Quantum Dancer Kerrylee
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for January 13, 2009:

That of wanting.  Implying that I often don't have quite enough for what I need.  Or want.  Which means I am often in a state of wanting.

Which implicates feelings of worthiness, worth, deserving.  Which indicates the need for nourishment.  And trust.  And letting go, or detaching.  Allowing.

A friend told me years ago I'd benefit from treating myself like I would my own child.  This is still good advice!

I can think happy thoughts about money.  I can think about what I'd do with it if I had more, how more secure I may feel, more free, more...  I can come back to thinking positively about money.  I can program my brain with affirming mantras.  I am still wanting the money to be here.

The money theme has been on the front of my stage lately.  Today, I had a book borrowed from a friend, and I opened to a page.  It said, "The experience of wanting."  I realized that for all my focus on bettering my situation, I was still wanting for it.  Which meant I'm creating more wanting, instead of what it is that I am wanting.  It said:

The experience of wanting

Often, the things that you are desiring -- often the thing that you want in your life -- your great God Presence wants it for you too!  But you started struggling, you started
wanting it so much, and what is the universe giving you? -- It is giving you the experience of wanting.  The Universe is an interesting friend.  It's giving you the thing you want, it is giving you the experience of wanting.

Because you've got yourself into a fix -- you've got yourself into a right pickle by holding this vibration of just wanting something -- what experience are you having every day? -- You are having the experience of wanting, or struggling with something that is in your life.  And because that is what has taken hold of your feeling body, your feeling body and the universe must give you the experience of continued wanting and struggling.  Remember, "What I feel, I make real!"

Question:  What is the difference between
want and desire?
Answer:  Well, ideally, there is no difference; except when you are wanting something and you will not leave it alone, it turns into a feeling of struggle.  I am just using it in a different way, ideally it is the same.  But what happens is, that when you want something and it has become a problem -- you want your financial freedom, but my goodness, you have ended up with just the opposite -- you want to be free of it, right?  And so what happens is, days and months pass, and you find the situation prevailing and it is not changing.  So when you have a
want to be free and there is a struggle vibration because of what is not taking place, then the universe, your God life, gives you the continued experience of wanting, rather than the desire fulfilled.

However, oftentimes the desire for your financial freedom is a desire from
God in you that is acting.  But you have come along and said, "What am I going to do?...What am I doing wrong?  What can I do differently?"  And so, judgment aginst self comes in -- that you don't have financial freedom because you are some dummy, you are not doing it right; or you have gone and misused life energy, and you are being punished.  All sorts of human concepts and all of it is not true!

(from the book The Greatest Power in the Universe, by Akasha and Asun, channeled through Usa the Messenger, from The Akasha Mystery School. Published in Vancouver, Canada by Angelic Encounters. Copyright 2007.  Pages 301-302.)

It's helping me not take it all so seriously, and to let go.  And I am glad for these messages, these glimmers of guidance.

What's been motivating you recently?

Posted on Jan 9th, 2009 by Kerrylee : Quantum Dancer Kerrylee
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for December 29, 2008:

Returning to school has been motivating me in many areas.

1.  I am following my heart in this!  This means that my inner light is becoming more and more excited and is consequently supplying me with lots of great ideas that I'm looking forward to implementing.  The Society for the Cultivation and Expansion of Love is one of these things.  Every day I get more ideas. The first wave of this plan focuses on plants, the earth, and our environment.  The second wave focuses on people.  And yet, both waves (and the ones to come) are equal in importance!

2.  Financially.  I have to come up with a lot of money!  It is both an exercise in trust and an opportunity to change my relationship with money into something more supportive and beneficial.  I'm having fun with it, and I'm seeing it more as a game that I can be good at.  It's all in what I think!  What I feel, I make real.

And in general I have been even more motivated to just awaken already.  I am so, so glad this is what's happening!
